In response to the growing needs of food businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Canadian Institute of Food Safety (CIFS) will now be offering COVIDSafe™ training through a partnership with RespondFirst.
There are two COVIDSafe™ Professional Programs that food businesses can enrol into in order to obtain industry specific training on COVID-19. One program is specifically for food service businesses, while the other is for food retail businesses. Both programs include online lessons on vital information about COVID-19 in the food industry, such as dealing with employees and customers suspected of having COVID-19 and new protocols for preventing the spread of the coronavirus within the business. The programs also provide helpful resources such as guides, fact sheets, posters and checklists. The lessons and resources are specific to each industry and are frequently updated on the latest COVID-19 information.
The COVIDSafe™ Professional Program for Food Service
This program is specifically for food service businesses such as restaurants, bars, and hotels. These businesses are facing very trying times during the COVID-19 pandemic, with most having to temporarily close their doors to the public. Many are attempting to switch to a take-out or home delivery model in order to maintain revenue. The COVIDSafe™ Professional Program for Food Service helps food service businesses mitigate the challenges of COVID-19 by providing specific training and resources on COVID-19 safety, how to adopt to a take-out or delivery model, how to keep food safe during closure, and how to maintain operations within the new COVID-19 parameters.
The COVIDSafe™ Professional Program for Food Retail
This program is specifically for food retail businesses, such as grocery stores and supermarkets. Most of these businesses have been declared essential services and are remaining open during the COVID-19 pandemic. The COVIDSafe™ Professional Program for Food Retail provides food retail businesses with specific training and resources on COVID-19 health and safety procedures, cleaning and sanitizing protocols, keeping employees safe, enforcing physical distancing and preventing the spread of the coronavirus.
CIFS is proud to partner with RespondFirst in order to provide COVID-19 and coronavirus specific training. As the pandemic continues to have significant effects on the food industry as a whole, CIFS strives to provide relevant and practical training that will help food businesses navigate and survive the crisis.
