The Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) provides vital information on hazardous products as defined by the Federal Hazardous Products Act and Hazardous Products Regulations. WHMIS training and education is legally required for workers across all industries and occupations where hazardous materials are present, enabling staff to protect themselves effectively.
Compliance is crucial to avoid fines and penalties. Employers must ensure that employees who work with or are exposed to hazardous materials receive comprehensive education and training. Our WHMIS course meets the requirements for WHMIS education in Canada and is compliant with the latest WHMIS regulations, including WHMIS 2015 and 2022 updates.

WHMIS education vs. WHMIS training
WHMIS education and training are both required in Canada, but they are not the same. WHMIS education explains how the system works, while WHMIS training applies that knowledge to specific workplace hazards. Employers must ensure workers receive both to meet legal requirements and reduce risk.
CIFS delivers WHMIS course that provides standardized WHMIS education designed to ensure workers understand WHMIS before they encounter hazardous products on the job.
WHMIS training is tailored to each workplace and therefore cannot be standardized nationally. It is the employer’s responsibility to provide their employees with the appropriate training.
